The 906 Bergspyder

A Porsche That Never Was — Until Now

In 1966, Porsche built the 906 Carrera 6, a lightweight, fiberglass-bodied machine that marked the transition from privateer sports cars to factory prototypes. Soon after, Porsche produced a handful of open-top Bergspyders — “mountain spiders” — for European hillclimb competition. But a 906 Bergspyder was never among them.

At Crystal Lake Motor Company, we asked: what if it had been?

Our Interpretation

The 906 Bergspyder is a historically inspired creation — a car that might have existed in period, faithfully executed with the same spirit, methods, and details. It blends the engineering precision of a Porsche 906 with the romantic minimalism of the factory Bergspyders.
